Cool jazz, race for doughnuts among weekend activities

Perrysburg's weekend things-to-do list features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including a performance of cool jazz and a race for some jumbo doughnuts.

Weekend events also include several Perrysburg High School games or matches on the court, on the mat, or on the ice.


The Northwest Ohio Writers Forum hosts author Frank Kuron at the Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg from 10 a.m. to noon. Mr. Kuron is the author of the book Thus Fell Tecumseh, about the controversy over the death of Native American leader Tecumseh during the War of 1812. He has also written several articles about the War of 1812. During his appearance, he will discuss tips for writing about history. The Toledo Roadrunners Club will run for doughnuts at the fifth annual Donut Dash 5K Prediction Race. The event will take place at Second Sole store at 4130 Levis Commons Blvd. at Levis Commons. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. Refreshments, including doughnuts, hot chocolate, and sports drinks, will be available. Participants will run and/or walk the course roads around Levis Commons. The event is free for TRRC members and $5 for non-members. Information: Overall first male/female finishers receive big doughnuts. Top 10 prediction winners receive dougnuts or bags of road salt or some other winter survival hardware.

The St. Tim's Discover Series presents Jazz with David Bixler 1-75 Ensemble from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 871 East Boundary St. The event is billed as an exclusive performance by Mr. Bixler, well-known saxophonist, composer, and educator.
