Lindsey McCrammer of Perrysburg passes race director and timer Edward O'Reilly of Maumee as the first female to finish.
Sprinkles. Pink, lavender, blue, red, yellow. Perhaps the doughnuts had sprinkles.
Likely, though, it didn't much matter to the fast-paced runners during a dash for doughnuts Sunday at Levis Commons in Perrysburg.
Billed as a "5K Prediction Race/Run/Walk/Frostbite Festival," the event was hosted by the Toledo Roadrunner Club. Registration began at 8 a.m. and the 5K kicked off at 9 a.m.
Registration, start, and finish were at the Second Sole Store, 4130 Levis Commons Blvd. at Levis Commons where the course was a loop on roads around the shopping complex.
Awards included big doughnuts for the overall first male/female finishers. Top 10 Prediction winners received doughnuts or bags of road salt or some other winter survival hardware, according to details provided by the club about the event.
Best costumes, such as for the outstanding doughnut-themed outfit, also received awards.
Refreshments? Sure, those were served as well and tasty treats included doughnuts.
Organizers noted that it was cold weather for a 5K, but the run could be considered as a reason to dash for doughnuts without taking a guilt trip besides.
