War games, karaoke, music on tap for Perrysburg weekend

At the Funny Bone Comedy Club: Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., actress Loni Love has shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday; at 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday, and at 7 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Love has been on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, The Best Damn Sports Show Period, VH1's I Love the 70's/80's/90's, Vh1's The Great Debate, and Comics Unleashed.

There will be a Miniature War Gaming Conference at Fort Meigs Friday and Saturday. In the Visitors Center at Fort Meigs, you can go through these battles on a small scale with the war-gaming conference. There will be several time periods from the Roman wars to World War II. Warfare in the land, sea, and air will be re-created on tabletop battlefields. Participation costs $12 for a day, or $18 for both days, which includes admission to Fort Meigs. It runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday; on Saturday, it runs from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with hour-long breaks at 1 and 6 p.m. 

Zoar Lutheran Church will host the Perrysburg Musical Theatre for karaoke with the public from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Admission will be $5 and there will be a silent auction and raffle. Zoar is located at 314 E. Indiana Ave.

Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Second St., will host a concert by the Academy Brass Quintet. Selections will include “First Suite in E flat” by Gustav Holst, “Spring - A New Beginning” by David Marlatt, “American Patrol” by Glen Miller, “The Easy Winners” by Scott Joplin, “Amazing Grace” and an Armed Forces Salute. The quintet is a professional group comprised of musicians from the Toledo area. Admission is free and open to the public. 

Grace United Methodist Church is hosting a walk, lunch, and bake sale to raise money for awareness and fight against Williams Syndrome at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Williams syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects a child's growth, physical appearance, and cognitive development. People who have Williams syndrome are missing genetic material from chromosome 7. There will be a donation of $20 an individual, and $50 for a family of four. The church is located at 601 E. Boundary.

Perrysburg High School baseball, softball, track and field, and boys lacrosse teams will be in action this weekend.


  • At 4:45 p.m. Girls Varsity Softball team hosts Anthony Wayne High School for a double header.
  • At 5 p.m. the Boys Varsity Baseball team also hosts Anthony Wayne for a double header.
  • At 5 p.m. the coed Varsity Track and Field team will be at Sylvania Southview.


  • At noon the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team will be at Holy Name High School. They are also schedule to play at Avon Lake High School at 7:30 p.m.
