Our Town Going Out

Musical, car cruise, comedy and barbecue fill out weekend

Perrysburg Music Theatre's showing of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat highlights a busy weekend in town.

The First United Methodist Church at 200 W. Second St. will have a family barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The church is welcoming the people of Perrysburg for the barbecue, live music from Swingmania, a dunking booth, face painting, snow cones, a jumping castle, and a visit from the Perrysburg fire department with one of its fire engines.

There will be a car wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Walt Churchill's Market at 26625 Dixie Hwy. to help the Perrysburg Alternative to Substance Abuse Teen Board. The teen board is a group of high school students who work year-round to reduce youth substance use in Perrysburg. The car wash is to raise funds to attend a summer conference where Perrysburg high school students can learn about youth-led prevention, leadership, and how to improve the PASA Teen Board for next year.

At the Funny Bone Comedy Club: Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., comedian Bill Bellomy has shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday; at 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday. For two seasons, he hosted the hit comedy competition series Last Comic Standing and for five years hosted MTV Jams.

Friday evening O-Deer Diner and Ice Cream is hosting a cruise on the Commodore Schoolyard area across the street from the restaurant. The event had more than 80 cars registered. Records from the 1950s and 1960s will be played and a 50/50 drawing held to benefit the Perrysburg High School after-prom committee.

Kyle White will be playing live music from 5 to 8 p.m. at Levis Commons Saturday night, with carriage rides offered at the same time. It is $5 a person or $10 for the family to ride the carriage around the Levis Commons outdoor mall.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat play will be put on by the Perrysburg Musical Theatre this weekend at Perrysburg High School at 13385 Roachton Rd. Friday and Saturday the shows start at 7 p.m., and Sunday it begins at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased an hour before the show. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors, and children. The show is more of an opera with over 20 songs and no dialogue. It is the third Perrysburg Musical Theatre show since it started three years ago.
