Nov. 21 event raises money for culinary arts program.
The Culinary Arts programs at Penta Career Center are hosting "Around the World in Eight Plates," an annual scholarship dinner and silent auction, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Proceeds from the dinner benefit a scholarship fund for Culinary Arts students. In addition, money raised in the silent auction will go toward the Hirzel Scholarship Fund, which provides qualifying Penta seniors with scholarships towards post-secondary tuition and/or tools needed for employment.
The dinner will be held in the Culinary Connection restaurant on the Penta campus, 9301 Buck Rd. in Perrysburg Township. Cost of the dinner is $75 per person.
"Around the World in Eight Plates" features an internationally-themed menu which includes appetizers from Spain and an eight-course meal.
Featured foods include steamed pork belly bun from South Korea; branzino and olive oil confit from Greece; crispy tofu and ginger ice tea from China; lobster mac from United States (New England area); shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash from the United Kingdom; Gorgonzola, smoked mozzarella and Parmesan gelato from Italy; hot chocolate and churros from Mexico; assorted chocolates from Belgium.
The Penta Culinary Arts students are working with instructors Janea Makowski, Jim Rhegness, and Sarah Deland to prepare the dishes.
Reservations are required by Nov. 15.
