Cost to dispose of septic waste could climb 3 percent in 4 years

Haulers who bring septic waste water to Perrysburg's treatment plant may see an annual 3 percent increase in fees over the next four years.

Timothy Warren, director of public utilities, updated city council's Health, Sanitation, and Public Utilities Committee on the water and sewer rate study at Tuesday's meeting.

The current fee is $42.65 per 1,000 gallons, and the proposed fee for 2013 is $43.92. The fee would increase another 3 percent each year through 2016, Mr. Warren said.

In other matters, the committee approved a request to vacate a water line easement for the Shoppes at RiverPlace.

The development owner intends to take over maintenance of the line.

The committee will make recommendations for increasing the waste water hauling fees as well as the water line easement to city council which meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The HSPU committee moved its next meeting to 6 p.m. Dec. 20 to avoid meeting on Christmas Day.
