The local advocacy group Perrysburg4Transit is seeking volunteers for its Go Perrysburg! campaign to support a levy for public transportation in the city of Perrysburg.

"We'll take as much help and as many people as we can get," said committee member Gil Lutz of Perrysburg.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. today at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, 333 East Boundary St. The meeting is open to the public.

City council is expected on Tuesday to approve placing on the May 7 ballot a 0.8-mill, five-year levy to pay Ride Right of Lake St. Louis, Mo., to operate two handicapped-accessible vehicles for call-a-ride and fixed route transit service.

The city has been without public transportation since the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority stopped service in Perrysburg in September, following voters' approval earlier in the year to withdraw from the agency. A 1.45-mill levy was defeated in November.
