Want to learn how to cope with stress? Owens Community College may have the answer.
The college, on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township, is offering free workshops open to the public next week on “Using Art to Reduce Stress and Anxiety.”
Presented as part of the AmeriCorps College Completion Coaches Initiative, the four two-hour workshops will be in College Hall Room 120B.
The workshops will be Monday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 4, from noon to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.; and Thursday, Dec. 6, from noon to 2 p.m.
Participants will explore stretching, relaxation and breathing techniques to reduce stress. Also taught will be how the arts can assist in balancing life through self-care and self-expression. Each workshop will focus on an art-specific exercise and will include hands-on activities such as collage-making (Dec. 3), cartoon your life (Dec. 4), self-portrait (Dec. 5) and still-life drawing (Dec. 6).
