His talks will explore the nature of family and what it means for the millennial generation.

Wahls addressed the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in 2011 in a public hearing regarding a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Iowa. The then-19-year-old son of a same-sex couple, he proudly proclaimed “the sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character.”

Hours later, his speech was posted on YouTube, where it went viral, receiving more than 2 million views. By the end of the week, everyone knew his name and wanted to hear from the boy with two moms. The sixth-generation Iowan was invited for appearances on MSNBC-TV, CNN-TV and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Wahls has written a book My Two Moms, which details his life growing up.
