The Owens Community College Concert Band is in rehearsal for its upcoming Winter Pops Benefit Concert that will be performed at 1:30 p.m. March 3 at the college's Mainstage Theatre.
Musical selections presented by the band, which is comprised of Owens students and employees and community members, will include “Dances Americanesque,” “Amparito Roca,” “William Tell Overature,” “Xylophonia,” and “The Wizard of Oz Meets The Wiz,” among others.
Michael Sander, Owens Fine and Performing Arts co-interim chairman, will present a solo performance with his xylophone. Owens Fine and Performing Arts co-interim chairman Kevin Schroeder will paint a Walt Disney-themed mural while the Owens concert band plays "The Music of Disneyland."

The concert is free and open to the public. Monetary donations will be accepted to support the outreach efforts of Cherry Street Mission Ministries. Cherry Street's goal is to provide help to those in need of food and shelter. It has served the homeless and poor in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan since 1947.
Free refreshments will be served in the theater lobby following the concert.
Owens’ Toledo-area campus is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.
