The 'New Kid on the Block' program will be held at Frank, Fort Meigs, Toth, and Woodland elementary schools.
Elementary school counselors have scheduled the annual “New Kid on the Block” orientation program at Frank, Fort Meigs, Toth, and Woodland schools on Aug. 22 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The Perrysburg Schools program is open to students in grades 1-5 who will be new to one of these elementary schools this fall.
The program originally was designed to aid families who were new to the Perrysburg community, but has evolved to include children who have moved from one residence to another within Perrysburg and will be attending a different school. Also invited to the program are students who are transferring to a new building through the district’s open enrollment option or from private or parochial schools.
Students coming to the program will be able to meet other new students as well as see their classroom Big Buddies, who are student volunteers trained to welcome new students. Pizza and drinks will be provided.
In previous years, a new parent meeting was held during the program. This year there will not be a new parent meeting. Elementary counselors ask that parents drop their children off for the program.
Once the students have met their Big Buddies, parents may pick up their children at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy Preview Night activities in each elementary building.
