Perrysburg High School Athletic Director Ray Pohlman has announced that the athletic department and boosters are working with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Spielman Classic, and Susan G. Komen to promote breast cancer awareness.
This week, Yellow Jackets soccer, volleyball, and football teams will be supporting breast cancer awareness. Pink T-shirts will be on sale in the athletic office Tuesday through Friday, as well as at the games for $10. Donations will be accepted at the gate.
The teams are asking their fans to wear pink in support of the cause.
All donations collected will go to the Susan Komen fund and Stefanie Spielman fund at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
“We believe this is a great opportunity to teach our student athletes about sports and how it can also be a platform to assist their communities and significantly help people who are battling this terrible disease,” Mr. Pohlman said.
Pink Out games will be the girls soccer game against Northview on Wednesday, volleyball game against Springfield on Thursday, and the boys soccer game against Copley on Saturday.
Also, the football team will participate in the Spielman Gridiron Classic IV against Clay High School on Friday at home, at Perrysburg Junior High School.
There will be a special tailgate social in the north end zone of Steinecker Stadium before the Perrysburg-Clay football game and cancer survivors are encouraged to join.
