Manor House is all decked out for the holidays

Holidays in the Manor House returns Saturday to Wildwood Preserve Metropark for the 38th year.

For nine days, visitors can enjoy the volunteer-created sparkling displays in the 32-room mansion.

This year, the Adam Room will be transformed into a 1960s-like office Christmas Party, reminiscent of the television show Mad Men.

Elvis will make an appearance in the basement, and upstairs, a scene from The Nutcracker will come to life.

The event will mark the reopening of the mansion, which had been closed for two months for renovations, that included a new roof and new windows. Last year, more than 20,000 people visited the Manor House for the holiday tour. The house was first decorated for the public’s enjoyment in August, 1975, as part of a decorators showcase. The following year, volunteers decorated the house at Christmas time, originally calling the event Homespun Holidays.

Holidays in the Manor House will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily Saturday through Dec. 15. Admission is free.
