Even though it is the weekend before Christmas, there are a few local events.
Here's what's going on:
The Olander Park System will host an educational program, entitled “Nature Needs Kids & Kids Need Nature,” at 10:30 a.m. at the Gorman Nature Education Center. The park is located at 6930 Sylvania Ave. The program is aimed at exposing children to the outdoors and includes learning opportunities and educational programming. Refreshments will also be served. The Olander Park System offers many events throughout the year, including winter, to get children outside and into nature.
As a tradition since 1963, Children's Wonderland, featuring an interactive zone, coloring, letters to Santa and much more, will still be at Tam-O-Shanter this weekend. The event includes classic exhibits, train rides and picture opportunities. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children between 3-12 and free for children under 2. Open from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, Tam-O-Shanter is located in Sylvania, at 7060 Sylvania Ave. For details, visit www.childrenswonderland.org.
Visit Sylvania's Tam-O-Shanter Sports Complex for open ice skating. Prices are $3 for adult residents or $4 for adult non-residents; children under 3 are free and seniors 60+ are $1.
