It might be chilly outside, but the fourth weekend in January in Sylvania has many events in store for everyone.
Here’s what’s going on this weekend:
The Olander Park System will host a Nurturing Nature program at 10:30 a.m., at the Gorman Nature Education Center, 6930 Sylvania Ave. The event is for 3 to 5-year-olds accompanied by adult guardians. The program includes learning activities that expand cognitive skills. For more information, email email@example.com.
East of Cheyenne classic country band performs at the Sylvania American Legion, 5580 Centennial Rd., from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Details: 419-257-2323.
Running, swimming, and cycling will be featured topics during the Team Toledo Triathlon Club's annual winter expo, open to the public. The expo, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boulevard Church of Christ, 7041 W. Sylvania Ave., also will include information on nutrition, fitness, sporting apparel, personal coaches, and race management. Vendors, displays, demonstrations, and a silent auction are among planned activities, including a basic bike maintenance clinic at 1:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m., yoga for triathletes. An open house and tour session for Woodrow Preschool is set to take place from 10 a.m. to noon. The school is near downtown Sylvania at 5900 Woodrow Ave. The event will feature a discussion about the preschool’s creative curriculum and walking field trips. Visit Sylvania's Tam-O-Shanter Sports Complex for open ice skating. Prices are $3 for adult residents or $4 for adult non-residents; children under 3 are free and seniors 60 and older are $1. Movie night hosted by the men's group at Sylvania First United Methodist Church, 7000 Erie St., 5 p.m. Event is geared to fathers and their children. Pizza will be served followed by the presentation of the movie. Free tickets available at the church. Details: 419-882-2205.
