Sylvania Mayor Craig Stough
The holiday shopping season is officially underway in Sylvania.
The Downtown Delights shopping event, sponsored by the Downtown Sylvania Association, at 6 p.m. today starts the season when the downtown lights and holiday tree are lit.
Sylvania has many fine stores and I encourage you to "Shop Sylvania" this holiday season.
Downtown Sylvania shopping is better than ever with delightful stores and restaurants. New this year is Ace Hardware at the corner of Main and Monroe along with their Christmas Store nearby. Choconotes, Keith Brooks Florist and the Element 112 restaurant have opened downtown. Fried Marbles and Dragonfly have opened in the historic village. V Concept, a high end men's clothier, opened downtown a year ago.
There are many more fine stores and restaurants all around Sylvania at Southbriar Shopping Center, Wickford Plaza, Saxon Square, Timberstone Plaza, the Kroger Plaza, the Andersons Market, the Starlite Plaza, the Promenade Shops, Country Squire, the Sylvania Marketplace and more.
Our Chamber of Commerce's "Shop Sylvania" program has it right. Sylvania stores offer the products, price and convenience you are looking for. They are beautifully decorated, less congested and close by. They are in safe, well lit areas. The snow is plowed and parking is close to the door. Many are locally owned and operated, and offer the kind of personal service you only get from an owner operated business.
Shopping at Sylvania stores keeps local dollars in our community. They employ our friends, our neighbors and our children. Unlike out-of-town stores, they also help support our local school programs and community fundraisers like tag days, career days, sports teams, prom nights, yearbook ads and more.
Gift shops, antique dealers, art dealers, clothiers, collegiate sports specialties, florists, furniture, home decorating, coin dealers, jewelers, specialty foods, wines, photography, toys, books, computers, hair salons, spas, golf equipment, greeting cards, exercise equipment, bicycles, musical instruments, auto supplies, hardware, business equipment, crafts, window treatments, sewing supplies, dollar stores and many more are all right here in Sylvania.
Our local shops and restaurants are looking forward to meeting your Holiday shopping needs and hope that you will "Shop Sylvania". Also, join us for Santa's festive arrival downtown during Holiday Happenings on Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m.
