Last week I searched for a Sylvania resident who was directly affected by the Sept. 9, 2001 terrorists attacks. However, the finger kept pointing back to me.

There are a couple pivotal moments in my life that have changed me forever, and that hot September day is one of them. I can still remember the exact outfit, down to my shoes, that I was wearing when I was walking across 42nd Street in New York City and heard the first plane hit.

Of course, as a typical New Yorker, I tried to play it off as blasé, accidents happen all the time in New York. I didn't realize it was a plane, but just knew that something had happened, and people around me were looking down the avenues in the direction of downtown Manhattan.
