Sister Janet Doyle
Sister Janet Doyle, administrator for the Sylvania Franciscan Village, last week took an oath at a regular Library board meeting and was sworn in as a member of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library Board of Trustees.
The Lucas County Commissioners took action on Jan. 14 to appoint Sister Janet. Her term is scheduled to expire on Jan. 10, 2018.
From 1990 to 2003, Sister Doyle served as superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Toledo. She then relocated to Phoenix to serve as the director of the Catholic Center, Foundation for Senior Living, before returning to the Toledo area in 2011.
Sister Doyle took her position as Sylvania Franciscan Village administrator in June, 2011. The Village was launched in 2010 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania and their two sponsored ministries, Lourdes College, and Franciscan Services Corp. to benefit those who share the Franciscan mission.
Sister Doyle said she is eager to serve as a new Library board member and expects that as the system continues its commitment to early literacy, her past experiences with schools and education will be of great benefit.
