Sylvania area crime log, fire runs 1/23

Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.

Sylvania Police

Jan. 14

Theft. Southview High School, 7225 West Sylvania Ave., reported a Droid Razr mobile phone and case, with a value of $608.38, were stolen from the girl's locker room at the high school.

Theft. Southview High School, 7225 West Sylvania Ave., reported a brown purse, as well as $25 in cash, an Ohio temporary driving permit and a Southview High School ID card were stolen from a classroom at the high school.

Jan. 17

Theft. Steve Chirgott, 5900 block of Barkwood Lane, reported that he was deceived into giving away a McDonald's gift card and a silver colored iPod.

Jan. 19

Misuse of credit card. James Ott, 4800 block of Sylvan Court, reported that an unknown person used Mr. Ott's credit card information to make purchases without his permission.

Burglary. John Ewing, 5000 block of Santa Barbara Drive, reported these items were stolen from the residence: copper pipes and a shower head/hose. Damages to an interior door and drywall were also listed as damages.

Sylvania Township Police Department

Jan. 15

Theft of motor vehicle. Kistler Ford, 5718 W. Central Ave., reported that a vehicle was discovered missing. A set of keys for the vehicle were also missing. The car had a GPS tracker on it and officers were able to locate it. A suspect was then arrested.

Jan. 17

Burglary. Timothy Tran, 5400 block of Merriman Road, reported these items were stolen from his home: a flat-screen TV, a Play-Station 3 gaming device and two diamond rings.

Jan. 19

Theft. Derek Holmes, 8200 block of Central Ave., reported 114 gallons of diesel fuel missing from his 2005 Western Star tractor, which was parked on Central Ave.

Jan. 21

Theft. Meijer, 7240 W. Central Ave., reported a suspect attempted to steal a shopping basket full of DVDs from the store. The basket was overturned by store management and the suspect fled to a waiting vehicle.

Jan. 14

Jan. 15

6900 block of Milrose Lane, assist invalid.

5500 block of Birch Hollow Court, smoke detector activation.

3300 block of Percentum Road, assist invalid.

8700 block of Linden Lake Road, smoke removal.

5100 block of Trellis Way, passenger vehicle fire.

Jan. 16

7600 block of Dorr St., dispatched and canceled en route.

4500 block of Vineyard Road, cooking fire.

9600 block of Captiva Dr., assist invalid.

Jan. 17

2800 block of Reynolds Road, EMS call, excluding vehicle.

Jan. 18

6200 block of Monroe St., motor vehicle accident.

5400 block of Silica Dr., motor vehicle accident.

Jan. 19

4800 block of Parkgate Place, smoke detector activation.

2700 block of Pin Oak Dr., smoke detector activation.

5900 block of Jeffery Lane, carbon monoxide detector activated.

6000 block of Acres Road, gas leak.

5400 block of Burgess Dr., motor vehicle accident.

4600 block of Sheringham Lane, building fire.

Jan. 21

8300 block of Meghan Dr., assist invalid.

8100 block of Sunset Lane, assist invalid.

6000 block of Frejon Lane, overheated motor.
