Students at McCord Junior High took first places, Timberstone Junior High students grabbed a second, and individual Sylvania students snagged honors at the Power of the Pen District competition last week.

The event, Saturday in Ottawa Hills, had 102 students from 20 teams competing to be district champions.

After several rounds, McCord seventh and eighth grade teams both took first place in their divisions and the Timberstone eighth grade team took second.
