The Bill Chidester Lecture Series continues March 16 and 17 at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St., Sylvania. The Rev. Alan Jones, author and dean emeritus at the Episcopal Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, will speak about the struggle between individualism and the common good.
The church will offer classes to prepare for and reflect on the Rev. Jones's visit on Sunday and March 24 during its 9:20 education hour between worship services.
The Rev. Jones will speak March 16, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Refreshments and conversation will follow. The Saturday lecture is $10, and tickets will be available at the door and by registering at sylvaniaucc.org/nurture_chidester.html.
On March 17, the Rev. Jones will have a free talk at 9:20 p.m. between Sylvania UCC's worship services. The Rev. Jones will then preach at the 10:40 a.m. worship service.
