A ribbon-cutting for the first phase of the Sylvania River Trail will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 5 in the South of Monroe district. Mayor Craig Stough and city council will meet on the north side of the bridge crossing Ten Mile Creek, behind 6465 Monroe St.
The first phase of the trail runs along the creek from Main Street downtown to Harroun Road and cost $1.3 million, much of it from grants. Phases II and III will extend the trail west to Silica Road and east through the Flower Hospital campus and under U.S. 23 to Monroe Street near the northbound expressway exit ramp.
