Wade Johnson, 59, serves as deputy chief of the Perrysburg Fire Department. He and wife Nadine live in Perrysburg and have a son.

How long have you been a first responder?

32 years.

What are the duties of your job?

Oversee daily operations, assist the chief, command the scene at large incidents.

What inspired you toward this kind of work?

Watching firefighters while growing up.

What is the most memorable incident to which you responded or in which you were involved?

President Bush's visit in 2004.

If you weren't in this field, what other kind of work would you like to do?

Be involved in motorsports.

What were you like in high school?

A friendly scalawag who brought happiness to the administration and teachers when I graduated.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

Golf, RVing , NASCAR, motorcycling, woodworking.

Where have you traveled in the world, or where would you like to go?

Have been to England, Mexico, Venezuela, islands in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska.

What is your favorite place to eat in Perrysburg?

El Vaqueros.

What are some good things about the community that you serve?

Clean, friendly town that supports quality of life issues, i.e. library, parks, community pool.
