Sylvania Crime Log: 7-26

Here are the crime reports from July 16 through July 23 from Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments. Also included are the fire runs from the Sylvania Township Fire Department.

Sylvania Police

July 14

Theft. Thomas Kellogg, 6100 block of Rockdale Lane, reported he made a wire transfer in the amount of $1,500 to Mechanical Banks for merchandise that was never received. The wire transfer fee was $115.

July 18

Identity theft. Emily Dunipace, 400 block of Wooster Street, Bowling Green, reported an unknown person stole her identity and withdrew $50 from her bank account.

July 19

Theft. John Hensley, 5600 block of West Alexis Road, reported a Citizen’s Band radio, worth $500, stolen from his vehicle.

July 20

Theft. Stephen Kiker, 6000 block of Barkwood Lane, reported his license plate stolen from his vehicle. It was valued at $125.

Theft. Esther Tomanski, 8100 block of Sunset Lane, reported quantities of prescription drugs, Oxycodone, Ambien, and Xanax taken without her permission.

July 21

Burglary. Donald Heinemann, 4800 block of Corregidor Drive, reported $1,160 stolen from his home.

July 22

Theft. Hussein Othman Barayan, 5200 block of Harroun Road, reported his wooden post and mailbox damaged. The combined value of the items was $170.


Sylvania Township Police

July 16

Theft. Kiri Ort, 9000 block of Cedar Berry Court, reported her purse, valued at $50, was stolen from her vehicle. It contained credit cards and identification documents. The car was parked at Stranahan Elementary School, 3840 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd.

Theft. Paula Ruetz, 3900 block of Pepperwood Court, reported her vehicle broken into while parked at Stranahan Elementary School, 3840 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd. Items taken were a Coach purse valued at $300 and a book binder valued at $10.

Theft. Lisa Smith, 5700 block of Balfour Road, reported her purse stolen from her vehicle, while parked at Stranahan Elementary School, 3840 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd. It was valued at $50.

July 17

Theft. Speedway, 5430 Monroe St., reported an unidentified person stole two cartons of cigarettes. The items’ combined value was $112.

July 18

Theft. Kristi Soller, 700 block of Hunting Creek, Temperance, Mich., reported her vehicle broken into while parked at the YMCA, 6465 Sylvania Ave. Items missing were a leather purse and wallet, and credit cards. The items had a combined value of $110.

Theft. Burt Ramm, 3100 block of Wilford Drive, reported that he lost his wallet outside of Mayberry Diner, 8253 Mayberry Square. The item, valued at $20, contained identification documents.

Theft. Leslie Williams, 6900 block of Dorr Street, reported a 48-piece silver sterling silverware set, stolen from a relative’s home located on 2300 block of Parliament Square. The value of the items was unknown.

Theft. Jes Wholesale, 3315 W. Centennial Rd., reported that $6,000 was missing from a cash delivery made from a salesman in Cleveland.

Theft. Ballas Buick, 5715 W. Central Ave., reported a 2004 Ford Taurus stolen from the parking lot. It was valued at $6,000.

July 21

Theft. Katelyn Florea, 800 block of West Capistrano Avenue, reported stolen from her vehicle sunglasses valued at $200, a Coach purse valued at $250, an iPod valued at $150, and various credit cards. The car was parked at Pacesetter Park, 8801 Sylvania-Metamora Rd.

Theft. Greg Ellis, 4600 block of Charlesgate Road, reported a Droid 4 phone valued at $250, credit cards, and $600 taken from his vehicle. The car was parked at the intersection of Centennial and Brint Roads.

Theft. Nancy Celusta, 2800 block of Westowne Court, reported a gold bracelet, four gold charms, and two gold pendants missing from her home. The value of the items was unknown.

Theft. Angela Richardson, 5600 block of Bonniebrook Road, reported a purse containing a checkbook, credit cards, and identification was stolen from her vehicle. The car was parked at residence located at 5100 block of Chapman Drive.

July 22

Theft. Gusmar Waterproofing and Sealing, 847 Detroit Ave., reported that $3,690 worth of construction equipment was stolen from a company truck, while employees were working at Palacio Maya Restaurant, 5124 Monroe St.

July 16

Intersection of Monroe Street and Glasgow Road, motor vehicle accident.

5300 block of Harroun Road, building fire.

4200 block of Corey Road, smoke scare.

3200 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, dumpster or other outside fire.

5000 block of Silica Drive, arcing shorted electrical equipment.

July 18

Intersection of Central Avenue and McCord Road, gas leak.

Intersection of Monroe Street and Talmadge Road, passenger vehicle fire.

4100 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, breakdown of light ballast.

4100 block of Isadore Lane, animal rescue.

5500 block of Elmer Drive, power line down.

5900 block of Whiteford Road, power line down.
