Cones were set up and stopwatches clicked in a race for some of the smallest vehicles ever built.

The first-ever Midwest Micro/Minicar Gathering was at the Commodore Schoolyard and building at the corner of Indiana and Louisiana Avenues in downtown Perrysburg Saturday.

Nan Myers, who organized the event, said it‘‍s funny seeing folks try to get in and out of the small cars in a hurry. Mrs. Myers and her husband Brent Myers own 25 mini cars and wanted to have a show dedicated to the small cars.

It was a free show for those who have small vehicles for those with less than 850 cc engine displacement, or fewer than four cylinders, or fewer than four wheels.

The event featured a vehicle display, competition and parade through downtown Perrysburg. At 3:30 p.m. the cars went to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Kingston Residence of Perrysburg to let patients and their families check out the vehicles. The vehicles included BMW Isetta, Peel 50, and Honda az 600.
