Blue Collar Comedy veteran heads to Toledo

Comedian Ron "Tater Salad" White will be at the Stranahan Theater Friday. White, best known as the scotch-drinking, cigar-smoking funnyman from the "Blue Collar Comedy" tour will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. White has been nominated for two Grammy awards and has sold 10 million albums. Tickets range from $44 to $64, and VIP packages that include premium seating range from $139 to $193 per person. ■ The Tran-Siberian Orchestra will kick off its final performances of "The Lost Christmas Eve" Wednesday at the Huntington Center. The encore shows will wrap up 15 years of touring for the rock opera that fuses rock, classical, folk, rhythm and blues, and theatrical music. Performances are at 4 and 8 p.m. and tickets range from $31 to $70.50. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, trans-siberian.com, the Huntington Center box office, and by phone at 800-745-3000.

 

■ On Friday, the Josh Project will host "Shake it 4 a Cause," a zumbathon benefit for the organization. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. certified Zumba instructors lead participants through of a number of Latin-infused dances combined with exercises, that make up Zumba. The event is open to adults and children and will be at Robinson Elementary, 1075 Horace Street, Toledo. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and can be purchased online at joshproject.org. Tickets are $15 at the door for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Josh Project, which provides water safety education and affordable swim lessons to adults and children.

 

■ The Frogtown Storytelling Guild's 13th annual Tellabration! concert will be Friday at the Maumee Indoor Theater. Tellabration! is a spoken-word performance of stories for grown ups, and is part of the National Storytelling Network's worldwide night of storytelling. The program will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10.

 

■ The Black Swamp Blues Society will present Kelly Richey Sunday at Evolution, 519 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo. Richey has been compared to legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Walter Trout, Bonnie Raitt, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Admission is $15 for Black Swamp members and $20 for non-members. The show begins at 7 p.m.
