The Scene Spotlight: The Cheeks

The Cheeks

Lineup: Larry Quillen, lead vocals; R. York, guitar; Markus Elvey, guitar; Terry Miller, bass; Larry Moskal, keyboards; and Chuck Reno, drums.

Style of music: The ages of guys in the band will tell you a lot about what music we like. So naturally we like gangsta rap, dub-step, and traditional Buddhist chant. Actually, we play all the stuff you grew up listening to: The Beatles, Bob Seger, Motown, Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk, Beach Boys, and Hall & Oates.

Sounds a little like: It sounds like a party. We've got six guys, all with 25 to 45 years of experience, who like to play together and we pride ourselves on five-part vocal harmonies.

Influences: We play many of the songs and artists who have had influence on us as musicians and performers.

Favorite local venue: The Bier Stube.

Upcoming shows: Jan. 10, Feb. 28, April 18, and June 6, all 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and at The Beir Stube.
