Choirs to sing at Gospel Fest this weekend

The Bowling Green State University Gospel Choir will host a two-day gospel concert this weekend on the school's main campus. Gospel Fest 2014 will feature performances from university choirs from all over Ohio including BGSU, University of Toledo, Ohio State University, and Wright State University. On the second night, there will be feature performances by gospel recording artists Tonya Baker and Todd Dulaney. The show also will include poetry, mime, and dance. The event, hosted by the Rev. Louis Pollard, will take place Friday and Saturday in the Bowen Thompson Student Union Ballroom. The concert begins at 7 p.m. both days. General admission is $10 for one night and $15 for both nights. Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

 

■ Play games and meet new people at the North Coast Gamers – Toledo Chapter's Free Open Game Night on Tuesday. The family-friendly event begins at 7 p.m. at CheckMate Games & Hobbies, 6725 W. ■ In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, the Toledo Zoo will offer free admission to all Lucas County residents Saturday through Monday. In addition, the zoo's Free-flight Butterfly exhibit will open on Friday and continue until March 2. On Saturday, during Science Day, science-themed demonstrations will take place in the indoor areas of Nature's Neighborhood. The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
