Bowersox to perform at casino

Singer-songwriter Crystal Bowersox will be coming to Hollywood Casino Toledo for a performance at the intimate H Lounge. The free show is scheduled for 10 p.m. April 5.

“This is really to pay homage to her and her success,” said Anika Gaskins, vice president of marketing for the casino. “It’s a celebration of her most recent album, her success on American Idol, and in her career.”

Bowersox, an Elliston, Ohio, native and the 2010 American Idol runner-up, released her second album, “All That For This,” in March and will make her Broadway debut in the new musical Always... Patsy Cline this summer.

Keith coming to Lima

LIMA, Ohio — Country singer Toby Keith, as part of his “Shut Up & Hold On Tour,” will perform Aug. 23 at the Allen County Fair.

Keith has sold more than 38 million albums. His hits include “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” "Drinks After Work," "Made in America," and "Red Solo Cup.”

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. March 8 at the Allen County Fair Box Office, 2750 Harding Hwy., Lima, by phone at 419-228-7141, or online at allencofair.com. Tickets are priced from $42 for grandstand and bleachers, $52 for track, and $65 for Toby’s Party Zone Pit area (standing), which is closest to the stage. There is a limit of eight tickets per order.

Class of 2014

Ray Davies and Donovan are among the 2014 class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. “Midnight Train to Georgia” writer Jim Weatherly and English songwriter Graham Gouldman also made the cut. Mark James, the writer of “Always on My Mind,” rounds out the list of five inductees.

Davies, the Kinks leader singer and chief songwriter, penned the band’s hits “You Really Got Me,” ‘’Tired of Waiting for You,” and “All Day and All of the Night.” Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan’s hits include “Sunshine Superman,” “Mellow Yellow,” and “Atlantis.”

Jackman to host Tonys

Hugh Jackman will host the 2014 Tony Awards ceremony on June 8, marking the actor’s fourth time hosting Broadway’s biggest awards night, organizers announced Tuesday.

The Australian actor will next be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas May 23.
