AUDITIONS

Actors Collaborative Toledo will hold auditions for its fall season of concert readings from 1 to 2:30 Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St. Freud’s Last Session will be performed in the chapel of the church Sept. 27, and Edward Albee’s Occupant will be Dec. 11 at the Toledo Museum of Art. Available roles are for three men, Sigmund Freud (age 60-80), C.S. Lewis (in his 40s), and The Man (age 30-plus). The role of Louise Nevelson in Occupant has been cast.

Oregon Community Theatre will hold auditions for the musical comedy Spamalot from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Rd. Callbacks will be Aug. 24 if needed. Director Bill Quinlan is calling for potential cast members to bring “their best silly walk or comedic part.” The multicultural cast will include men and women ages 17 to 80. Participants can sing a song from the show or sing something funny to show personality. Dancers, especially tap dancers, are encouraged to audition. Contact Quinlan at billq1197@yahoo.com.

Spamalot will be presented at 8 p.m. Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 14-15 and at 3 p.m. Nov. 9 at Fassett Auditorium, 3025 Starr Ave. in Oregon. Information: oregoncommunitytheatre.org.

Auditions for Waterville Playshop’s production of Oliver! will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 and from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Waterville. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a song from the show or one similar to the music, read from the script, and perform a simple dance routine. An accompanist will be provided. There will be no a cappella singing.Those auditioning for the chorus will only be asked to sing.

Oliver! will be presented Oct. 31 and Nov. 1-2 at the Maumee Indoor Theater; Sam Macera will direct. Rehearsals will be Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m.

The Toledo Repertoire Theatre will hold auditions for the Edgy Rep Reading of Detroit at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the 10th Street Stage, 16 10th St. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and winner of the Obie Award for Best New American Play, Detroit was written by Lisa D’Amour. The cast will include two females, ages ranging from late 20s to 50, and three males, two whose age range from late 20s to 50, and one man age 60-plus. The script will be available the day of auditions for cold readings. Callbacks will take place following any auditions Sunday. Performances will be held at the Valentine’‍s Studio A Theatre, 410 Adams St., on Oct. 10-11. The production will be directed by Jennifer Rockwood. Information: 243-9277 or toledorep.org.

Auditions for the Toledo Rep’s main stage production of Laura will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 and Aug. 24 on the 10th Street Stage. Excerpts from the play will be selected for cold reads and available the day of auditions. Laura is based on the 1944 film noir classic about a detective investigating the murder of the mysterious Laura Hunt. The director will be Wesley Skinner.

The cast includes the detective, 30s, shrewd, masculine, slight limp; a young musician, about 19, rough, likes ’40s jazz; well-to-do gentleman, age 50 to 60, theatrical; Laura’s fiance, age 30 to 40, well-mannered, slight Southern accent; the maid, age 50 or older, nondescript; young musician’s mom and wife of building’‍s maintenance man, age 45 to 50, faded and frustrated. Additional roles include a police detective, age 40 to 50, a minor role, and an attractive and mysterious woman in her 30s.

Performances of Laura will be Nov. 7-9 and Nov. 13-16. Thursday through Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2:30. Information: toledorep.org or 243-9277.
