Intruders allegedly rape woman and assault man

A 31-year-old East Toledo woman was raped and a man was assaulted when two men forced their way into an apartment in the 100 block of Fassett Street twice between Monday night and yesterday morning.

Flemming Williamson, 34, said he and a man were arguing about rent Monday. Just before midnight, the man came back with two other men, who forced their way into the apartment and fought with Mr. Williamson. One of the men had a knife and the other had a hammer, police said.

Mr. Williamson said he was hit several times in the ribs with the hammer and was cut on his hand by the knife. The men tried to rip the woman's clothes and rendered the telephone inoperable, police said.

About four hours later, the men returned to the apartment and again forced their way inside.

One of the men brandished a gun and threatened Mr. Williamson, who ran into the bathroom.

The men tried to force their way in. Mr. Williamson tried to stab one of them, police said.

Mr. Williamson then jumped from a window, falling 25 to 30 feet, Sgt. George Kral said.

Outside the residence, Mr. Williamson fled from a third man, who had a club. Inside the apartment, two of the men raped the woman, police said.

Police are seeking the men.
