A fire at a vacant three-story house at 2493 Maplewood Ave. in the Old West End that caused $22,100 damage was ruled arson, fire officials said yesterday.

The blaze started about 11:15 p.m. Monday at various places in the house. The main area of the fire was in the rear of the building on the second and third floors. Paper was strewn throughout the house and ignited, they said.
