Robberies probed for links
11/18/2000Toledo police are seeking information about several robberies that might be linked.
Most recently, two people robbed the Burger King, 1940 South Byrne Rd., about 6 a.m. Tuesday. The suspects, who had guns, ordered a worker to a safe, took money, and fled, police said.
On Nov. 7, two armed men walked into Nino's Sports Bar, 962 Emerald Ave., about 8:30 p.m. and stole the bar's cash register and money from a patron. One of the robbers was described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with black, wavy hair, and brown eyes. He wore a dark zippered sweatshirt and khaki pants. The second man was described as black, 5 feet, 7 inches, and 130 pounds. He wore a dark sweatshirt and sweatpants and black Nike shoes. Both wore white bandannas and carried semiautomatic guns, police said.
On Nov. 2, three men with white handkerchiefs around their faces robbed Kopper's Bar, in the 500 block of Navarre Ave, about 1 a.m. One of them held a gun to an employee's face, ordering money from the register. The suspect took the money, demanded cigarettes, then struck the employee in her face.
Patrons, who had been ordered to the floor, were robbed, kicked, or struck with guns.
About a half-hour later, three men armed with guns and wearing masks robbed Gator's Bar, 1432 Ingomar Ave.
