Deputies look for car used in drive-by killing

11/25/2000

Lucas County sheriff's detectives are looking for information about a car believed used in a drive-by shooting that led to the death of a 19-year-old Springfield Township man last Saturday.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a red, full-size General Motors car, possibly a Buick, from the mid 1980s, with white trim along the bottom of the body. Michael A. Johnson, 18, of Toledo, has been charged with murder in the shooting and is alleged to have been driving the car at the time it occurred.

The victim, Andrew Willis, of the 6700 block of Nebraska Ave., was fatally shot as he left an apartment in the 6900 block of Oakfield Drive at 7:15 p.m.

Anyone with information about the car, which is evidence in the case, should leave a message for Det. Rob Sarahman at 213-4941.
