Hermosa Ave. home damaged by kitchen blaze

1/19/2001

What started as a kitchen fire caused about $60,000 damage last night to a home at 4059 Hermosa Ave. in South Toledo.

The occupants of the house - Charles Adams, his wife, and two sons, whose names were not available - were not home when the fire started about 9:50 p.m., Battalion Fire Chief Eric Renzhofer said.

The blaze, which likely started at the stove, quickly spread through the walls of the 11/2-story wood frame house, destroying the better part of the front of the home. Fire crews, which responded to a 911 call from a neighbor, had the blaze under control at 10:15 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Chief Renzhofer said.
