An 18-year-old woman was arrested yesterday in connection with a fight this week that left a woman hospitalized, police said.
Bethany Nicole Skaggs, also known as Stephanie Skaggs, of East Toledo turned herself in at 3:45 p.m. at the Safety Building and was held without bond in the Lucas County jail.
Ms. Skaggs was charged with felonious assault in the beating of Veronica Perez, 26, of Fairfax Road.
Ms. Perez was one of several people in a car near Spencer and Beecham streets in South Toledo about 3:10 a.m. Sunday when someone threw something in front of their car. Ms. Perez got out and words were exchanged with the suspect.
Ms. Perez was struck and knocked unconscious. She was taken to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, where she initially was listed in critical condition. A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday that the hospital no longer had a patient by the name of Ms. Perez, but police said Ms. Perez remained in a coma.
