Numerous residents of a South Toledo neighborhood woke up yesterday morning to find their vehicles and garages spray painted with mushroom designs, references to Santa Claus, and profanity.
At least eight reports were filed with Toledo police from South, Prouty, Toronto, Lodge, and Brighton avenues, and one victim said he had seen at least a dozen damaged vehicles.
Toledo police Sgt. Phillip King said the vandalism appeared to be random; some property painted with racist references to blacks was owned by whites.
He said he did not have a damage estimate.
