Clues requested in shooting of Secor Road man

Toledo police are asking for information about a Dec. 23 shooting in which a West Toledo man was critically injured and a deputy police chief exchanged gunfire with the assailants involved in the incident.

Scott Leu, 46, of 2824 Secor Rd. was shot at least three times in the neck and stomach in front of his residence near Hughes Drive about 12:30 p.m. He was initially listed in critical condition at Toledo Hospital.

He later told police the suspects were trying to steal his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. A deputy chief, having lunch with relatives nearby, responded to the sound of gunfire, identified himself as a police officer, and tried to detain the suspects, who got into Mr. Leu s vehicle. At least one of the assailants turned and fired at the deputy chief, who returned fire.

The suspects involved in the shooting are thought to be two black women. It s unclear whether they were injured during the incident. One was described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a thin build, shoulder-length hair with beads, a gray or black hooded sweat suit, a bright-colored hat, and a silver handgun. The other was described as 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a normal build, light-colored hair, and possibly wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers coat.

They may have been driven away by a bald, heavy-set black male wearing a blue skullcap and dark-colored sweat suit. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
