Police seized 28 pit bulls and several thousand dollars yesterday during raids in west and central Toledo. One of the dogs was hurt seriously when another dog attacked it during transport to the county dog pound and was euthanized upon arrival, authorities said.

Police served search warrants at 2711 West Central Ave. and 1359, 1363, and 1364 Foster Ave. about 3:15 p.m. The raids were related to drug trafficking and dog fighting. The dogs, most of which had scars from fighting, were confiscated from a garage at 1364 Foster; the money was confiscated at the West Central address, police said.

Police were questioning a woman seen leaving the Foster garage address, but no charges were filed last night. The raids were the result of a three-month investigation, police said.
