TIFFIN — Two men remained jailed yesterday after bond hearings on charges they broke into a Hopewell-Loudon school building and stole equipment.

Bond was set at $50,000 apiece for Scott M. Wears, 25, of Findlay and Travis N. Trenor, 22, of Fostoria. Both are charged with breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools, both fifth-degree felonies, and grand theft and vandalism, both fourth-degree felonies, in connection with the Nov. 25 break-in at the school in Bascom.

Wears and Trenor also are charged in Hancock County with breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, and receiving stolen property, in connection with a Dec. 3 burglary at Van Buren Local Schools.

Wears was released from prison in February, 2003, after serving nearly 32 months for his role in the beating, kidnapping, and rape of a 13-year-old girl who was buried alive in a drainage pipe in Hancock County in February, 1999.

Trenor was released from prison in November, 2002, after serving nearly 33 months for a theft conviction in Hancock County.
