City man indicted in death at carryout

3/30/2004

A man accused of killing his accomplice in a robbery attempt at a North Toledo carryout has been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury.

Joseph A. Wilson, 18, of 3047 1/2 North Erie St., was indicted yesterday on one count each of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery. Both charges carry specifications that a gun was used in the commission of the crimes.

Police said Cranston Baccus, 30, was shot and killed when Mr. Wilson, who was wearing a mask, came into the Gold Star Market, 2123 Lagrange St., grabbed Baccus, put a handgun to his head, and demanded money.

However, the gun went off, killing Baccus, and Mr. Wilson fled. He is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $600,000 bond.
