Lake Township police have issued arrest warrants for two area residents, hoping to end what Chief Mark Hummer said was a recent "rash of burglaries" on the township's east side.
Heidi Johnson, 24, of Northwood and Jason Flick, 30, of Toledo are wanted in connection with a June 28 burglary at a house on Ayers Road. The suspects fled after a Lake Township police officer pulled into the driveway behind a white GM sedan belonging to their friend, Chief Hummer said.
He said the car fit descriptions given by people living near sites of other recent burglaries.
Police believe at least two other burglaries that occurred within two weeks prior to the Ayers Road incident are tied to the vehicle, Chief Hummer said.
He said seven other incidents occurred in the area during that time and resulted in the same types of stolen objects - guns, jewelry, and electronic devices.
Officers arrived on the scene June 28 after a woman they believe to be Ms. Johnson went to the door of another Ayers Road residence about 10 p.m. and asked for someone who did not live there. Then she drove away in a white car.
The person who answered the door called police to report the suspicious behavior, and an officer found the vehicle and interrupted the burglary soon afterward.
The suspects ran into a cornfield, and police believe they remain in the East Toledo area.
