Fostoria has hearing on discipline for police chief

8/3/2004

FOSTORIA - City officials yesterday conducted a predisciplinary hearing for police Chief Dennis Day, who is facing seven administrative charges of misconduct.

Mayor John Davoli said after the hearing that no decision had been reached on possible discipline for Chief Day, who has led the Fostoria Police Department since 1991. Mr. Davoli said he expected to announce a decision today.

Chief Day was placed on administrative paid leave Thursday afternoon after Safety-Service Director Ralph Wise completed an investigation of the chief's conduct ordered by Mr. Davoli.

City officials have declined to discuss the charges against Chief Day, who has been suspended twice in the past three years, once for discourteous treatment of the public and once over allegations of stalking and harassing his estranged wife.
