BOWLING GREEN - A Bowling Green State University football player was arrested early Monday after threatening to shoot a police officer who pulled him over for unauthorized license plates and playing his car stereo too loudly, police said.

Jimmy Lee Carson, Jr., 19, was to be arraigned this morning in Bowling Green Municipal Court on misdemeanor charges of menacing, unauthorized plates, and having a loud amplification system in operation.

According to police reports, Officer Jessica McClure pulled Mr. Carson over about 1:10 a.m. and told him he was under arrest for the license plate violation.

Mr. Carson allegedly told the officer, "I'm going to take care of this. I'm going to shoot you."
