Toledo cops to be pulled from schools

All 14 Toledo police officers assigned to Toledo Public and Washington Local schools will be reassigned to street patrol effective Jan. 1, leaving the school districts to come up with plans to address security concerns in their respective buildings.

Police Chief Mike Navarre also announced yesterday that a proposed police cadet class for this year has been canceled. The lack of new officers to help replace those who retire or resign is the main reason officers are being pulled from the schools for street patrol.
