Former suburban chief to train police in Mideast

10/5/2004

Wayne Seely, a former police chief in Wauseon and Sylvania Township, is heading to the Middle East to help train future police officers there.

Mr. Seely of Maumee is an instructor of criminal justice and fire science at Owens Community College. He is one of about 100 U.S. law enforcement officials selected to provide training. A U.S. Department of Justice search chose him.

The trainers will provide technical skills to those entering the police training program, which includes basic control, investigative interviewing techniques, arrest procedures, and lessons on interacting with the public. The program will last six months.
