Three Toledo men were arrested yesterday after they assaulted a city police detective and took his police radio at a South Toledo bar.

Shane Fowler, 24, who has addresses on Toronto and Geneva avenues; Randall Fowler, 25, of 848 Toronto, and Keith Kolinski, 23, of 317 Mayberry St., were being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignments Tuesday in Toledo Municipal Court. They are charged with one count each of felony assault on a police officer and robbery.

Detective Steve Applin was driving in the parking lot of Trotters Tavern, 5131 Heatherdowns Blvd., about 3 a.m. en route to an investigation at Heatherdowns and Reynolds Road. He saw the men waving their arms and shouting obscenities. As he drove by, they yelled at him, police said.

He stopped his vehicle, got out, identified himself as a police officer, and told them they were under arrest for disorderly conduct. The men then began to assault him, knocking him to the ground. One took his radio. The suspects ran into the bar followed by the detective. Officers responded after a citizen told them about a fight at the bar, police said.
