David Broadway, one of his employees, and David Broadway Salon & Spa, 6511 West Central Ave., in Sylvania Township, are facing criminal charges after Ohio liquor control agents raided the beauty shop Thursday and seized 17 bottles of champagne, authorities said.

The raid occurred after an undercover agent was served champagne Wednesday as part of a service package she ordered there. The business does not have a license to sell or serve alcohol, authorities said.

Mr. Broadway and the employee who served the drink and whose name was not released are facing charges of illegal sales of alcohol and keeping a place where alcohol is furnished or given in violation of the law. The corporation also is facing criminal charges. The charges will be filed next week, said Earl Mack, of the Ohio Department of Public Safety s investigative unit.

If found guilty, Mr. Broadway and the employee face a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine on the first charge and a $500 fine on the other charge, Mr. Mack said.
