Counterfeit $20 bills passed in Lenawee County

3/16/2005

ADDISON - The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of counterfeit money being passed at Addison High School.

A single, counterfeit $20 bill was discovered when the school made a deposit Feb. 3 at the local KeyBank branch.

Later, the clerk running the school's snack concession discovered two more bogus $20s.

In their investigation, deputies interviewed four students. They believe one of the students created the bills on his home computer and gave them to the other three without them knowing they were counterfeit.

Deputies have yet to charge anyone in the case, which is continuing.
