David McCrary was in the dog house yesterday - literally.
Toledo police collared the North Toledoan after he was seen in a van stolen from a South Toledo hot dog stand. That unleashed a brief chase.
The van was reported stolen about 12:40 p.m. from Ideal Hotdog, 4330 Heatherdowns Blvd. A few minutes later, an officer saw the vehicle at Airport Highway and Byrne Road.
The officer tried to stop it, but the pursuit ensued on Airport to South Avenue, Decatur Street, and Dunham Street, where the driver abandoned the vehicle. A few minutes later, a 911 caller reported the suspect was hiding in a dog house at 311 Decatur.
Officers found Mr. McCrary, of 1201 Champlain St., there and arrested him. He was expected to be booked into the Lucas County jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, obstructing, receiving stolen property, and driving without a license, police said.
